Subway letters

Over the winter break our class sent individual letters to Subway, asking them why their restaurants didn't have recycling bins. We received a reply from Subway two weeks ago. They generously donated coupons for free subs and cookies to each student along with a Subway pencil. In their reply, Subway explained that they tried to respect the environment by using recycled paper and finding fuel efficient ways to have their supplies delivered.  They are working on getting recycling bins but said it was a challenge. We wondered what the challenge was?  So we did what all curious minds do, we asked. Subway replied that the city of Winniepg does not pick up their recycling and that they would have to hire an independent company to pick up recycling.   There was also the issue of storing recyclables while waiting for them to be picked up.  It gave us something to discuss and think about. Did
we need to contact the city of Winnipeg?
